How long does it take to ship a car to or from Sanford, Florida?

Your car shipping timeline from Sanford takes these four major things into consideration: distance of route, method of transport, how many carriers work that specific route and difficulty of the drop-off or pickup. Distance is what determines your range; our carriers average about 500-ish miles per day working an open route with highways. Type of transport changes this range; open transport carriers can get this range done and keep a higher volume. Enclosed transports, since they take up more space and are not easily available for the larger vehicles, will typically have a slower schedule that will add an extra 1-2 days to your car shipment time.

‍

The amount of carriers that work a specific route from Sanford helps determine your pickup time, and the fact that you have a non-working vehicle, or a pick-up or drop-off point that is a hassle, all play in to your car shipping timeline, regardless of distance.

‍

A good real life example is that we shipped a Volkswagen truck from Sanford, FL to New Orleans, LA- distance covered 683 miles- open transport carrier- delivered in 3 days-client left a good review. Here is another: Volvo truck Sanford, FL to Minneapolis, MN- distance covered 1,531 miles- 5 day delivery time. For exact timelines for delivery, call or leave us a quote.

What affects car shipping costs in Sanford, Florida?

Whether you need this for this need or not, here's Sanford shipping rates with an explanation of what Carriers truly charge for in a nutshell: Distance gets you your lowest number then decreases in a rate per mile as the trip increases.

‍

Transport Method dictates 6-10 vehicles to an open car shipping trip are shipped at a standard price, while 1-5 vehicles to an enclosed carrier shipping trip cost 40-60% more. These are the major factors used and are modified with car condition, activity on a given route.

‍

Non-operational cars can add $100-150 to each shipment due to the use of a winch. Sanford has good access on both the I-4 and the US-17-92, carrying moderately busy traffic on nearly all shipping lanes thereby allowing a lower overall price to be competitive.

‍

First Available pickup is almost always going to be cheaper than First Available by time window. To better illustrate here are some sample open car shipping rates from Sanford: To Miami, FL-240 miles: $300-450 To New Orleans, LA-683 miles: $550-800 To Minneapolis, MN-1,531 miles: $1000-1300: One can visually see the progression between rates with Sanford being at a better rate as you increase your mileage, but decrease your rate per mile between trips.

Open vs. Enclosed Car Transport in Sanford, Florida

If you have an average, non-luxury vehicle, you can use open transport. If you have a vehicle of significant monetary or sentimental value, you will want to see discussion of enclosed transport below.

‍

An average open transport car carrier can haul 6-10 cars on a trailer. These carriers deliver not one shipment at a time, but pool several shipments going on the same route. They are cheaper, and visible. They ship the overwhelming number of all cars.

‍

An open transport shipment from Sanford, Florida to New Orleans, Louisiana, 683 miles, will cost somewhere in the range of $550-$800. An enclosed transport for the same distance will cost somewhere in the range of $770-$1200. Generally, transport cost is inversely proportional to distance, though. A shipment of 1531 miles, Sanford to Minneapolis, will cost $1000-$1300 by open transport, while it would cost $1400-$1950 for an enclosed transport.

‍

This higher cost for enclosed transport is obvious; there are not as many cars per trailer, there are firm, strict schedules to pick up and drop off, and there is a small fleet of enclosed transporters on the road. This cost is worth it when you have anything worthwhile at all, a classic car, a collector's vehicle, or even a brand new car that you purchased out of state, and need to transport home from the dealership.

Questions & answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does EcoHub provide insurance coverage for my vehicle during shipping?

More accurately it is being provided to you by the carrier, not your broker. As EcoHub Logistics is a licensed broker, we make sure that all the carriers we assign you are currently insured against cargo prior to us arriving at your pickup location in Sanford. You are given this insurance verification prior to pickup, not upon its arrival at the drop-off location. Cargo insurance is what will protect you against damage occurring while your vehicle is en route, it will not protect you against damage prior to pickup, personal possessions in your vehicle, or something not under the direct control of the carrier. The latter is why we always advise you make a quick call to your personal auto insurance provider just to be sure that your personal policy covers your vehicle during transport; some policies do, some policies do not.

How early should I book a car shipment from Sanford?

Book two weeks ahead for most routes. Sanford is in a great carrier access via I-4 and US-17-92 and consequently offers reasonable availability along major routes. However, two weeks is a minimum and will be more cost effective the more flexible you are regarding pickup day. Anytime availablepickup times tend to always be cheaper than a timed window and giving more days as opposed to just one will always equate to a better price. Keep in mind, if you are in the October-March snowbird season of Florida, then availability will be through the roof and you will want to add an additional week to your booking timeframe.

What if the carrier can't reach my pickup or delivery address in Sanford?

More often than you think. Car carriers are long trucks (around 75-80ft) and are going to need to get access in order to make a turnaround and have room to maneuver. In certain cases the road has narrow turns, low hanging trees, thin lanes, or some sort of obstacle above you that the carrier cannot maneuver into your driveway to get to your vehicle. They may request that you meet them at a more convenient location (i.e., in front of a large lot/building like a gas station or shopping mall). This is common practice for almost all car carriers, and you pay the same price. If you foresee potential problems with the street access to your vehicle, make sure you notify the car carrier when you are booking to ensure they will not have a problem on pick up.

What are the warning signs of an auto transport scam?

One sure sign that the quote you receive is a questionable one, is if it significantly lower than any of the other quotes you receive. When auto transporting, the unbelievably cheap quote almost never turns out to be the best deal. Instead, the quote typically turns out to be nothing more than the initial piece of the "bait and switch" in which the cost goes through the roof once your car has been loaded and there is nothing you can do. Below is a couple of other warning signs. You should be wary of any companies that either cannot provide you with or will not provide you with a DOT number and an MC number. All auto transporters are required to provide them to customers, and they can be readily looked up on the FMCSA carrier search engine. Be wary of pushy sales people as well, companies requesting high cash upfront deposits, and vagueness regarding who is responsible for your automobile.

What should I do to prepare my car before pickup in Sanford?

Clean, though detailed. That's what we're going to be concentrating on in this section. One-quarter to one-half of a tank of gas should be used. Any more and the extra weight becomes too much for the driver to transport at either end, any less and it may become difficult to drive the vehicle on and off the transporter. Tires should be properly inflated, battery should be charged, and there should be no significant leaks of fluids. All fluid leaks should be reported ahead of time, so that the carrier has time to make adequate provisions. Clean the interior of all personal belongings, as carriers will not cover insurance on these items, and excess weight will be a hindrance in balancing the load. Remove any external attachments (antennae, roof racks, aftermarket spoilers, etc.), which could become loose or be broken off in transit. Set off all alarms or give the driver detailed instructions written on a piece of paper. Wash the exterior of the vehicle, and take good clear photos of every panel before the driver arrives. Photos along with the signed Bill of Lading at the pick-up date will be the documentation for your proof in case there are any problems at the destination date.
